Visit Barefoot Kuata Island Resort and get up close and personal with reef sharks in their natural environment in the Yasawa Islands with lunch included.
Following a beachfront safety briefing with your experienced guides who’ve spent hundreds of hours getting to know the resident school of sharks, you’ll board a boat with your guides and travel to the reef shark site. The guides will be in the water with you the entire time and will closely monitor the shark’s behaviour to ensure your safety. The water depth at the snorkelling site varies between 4 and 6 metres and if you are not a confident swimmer, life jackets are available.
There are two main species of sharks encountered, White Tip Reef Sharks and Black Tip Reef Sharks, both are common in the tropical warm waters of the South Pacific. They can grow to a length of up to 1.8 metres although under the water they appear 25% larger due to a snorkelling face mask’s optical illusion. The number of sharks you will encounter will vary but it is common to see multiple sharks. As sharks are wild animals we cannot guarantee sightings, however we have a 95%+ success rate of seeing them.
If you are travelling with someone who does not want to participate in the shark snorkelling, they can just book a Barefoot Kuata Island Resort day trip and enjoy time on the island while you go snorkelling.
For the remainder of the day, enjoy lunch and make use of the snorkelling gear, kayaks, and paddle boards provided.
